A 99-year-old armed force veteran who has raised more than £9m for the NHS said the gathering pledges has been "totally amazing".
Tom Moore meant to raise £1,000 by finishing 100 laps of his Bedfordshire garden by Thursday.
"Each penny that we get, they [the NHS] merit all of it," he stated, as the all out surpassed the £5m mark.
In the interim, a school young lady has begun a battle for youngsters to make cards for his 100th birthday celebration on 30 April.
Reegan Davies, eight, from Port Talbot, Wales, has define an objective of making 1,500 virtual cards.
"You can post them on any online life with the hashtag #makeacardfortom." she said.
Mr Moore started raising assets to thank the "sublime" NHS staff who helped him with treatment for malignant growth and a wrecked hip.
With the guide of a mobile edge, he planned to walk 100 laps of the 25-meter (82ft) circle in his nursery in Marston Moretaine, in 10-lap lumps, before his 100th birthday celebration.
